KWTV/TIVIMATE RECORDING GUIDE

๐Ÿ“บ Recording with KWTV/TIVIMATE

A complete step-by-step guide to recording Live TV, scheduling programs, managing storage, and understanding the potential impact recording can have on your streaming device and service.

KWTV/TIVIMATE includes DVR-style recording features that can save Live TV programming directly to your streaming device, compatible external storage, or supported network storage.

Recording can be extremely useful, but IPTV recording works differently from a traditional cable or satellite DVR.

Your storage space, Internet connection, streaming device performance, IPTV connection allowance, and channel stability can all affect both the recording and your overall viewing experience.
⚠️ READ BEFORE USING RECORDING

๐Ÿšจ Recording Can Significantly Affect Your Streaming Device

Recording is one of the most resource-intensive functions available in KWTV/TIVIMATE.

When you record Live TV, your streaming device is not simply saving a bookmark or placing a program in the cloud.

Your device must actively receive the Live TV stream and continuously write that video data to storage for the entire length of the recording.

⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT:

A long recording can use several gigabytes of storage, increase device workload, consume an additional IPTV connection, increase network traffic, and potentially affect the performance of other apps or streams running on the device.
๐Ÿ’พ Storage Can Fill Up Quickly Recordings can consume multiple gigabytes per hour. Filling the device's internal storage can cause slow menus, app crashes, failed updates, playback issues, and failed recordings.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Increased Device Workload Recording requires the device to continuously receive and write video data. On lower-powered streaming devices, this additional workload may result in slower performance, freezing, or applications closing unexpectedly.
๐Ÿ“บ Additional IPTV Connections An active recording should be treated as an active Live TV stream. Watching another channel while recording may require another connection.
๐ŸŒ Increased Network Usage Recording one channel while watching another means your Internet connection may be processing multiple Live TV streams simultaneously.
๐Ÿ“ถ Buffering Can Become Part of the Recording If the Live TV stream freezes, buffers, disconnects, or becomes unstable, those problems may also appear in the saved recording.
๐Ÿ”Œ Recording Files Can Be Interrupted Never unplug USB storage, restart the device, disconnect power, or remove the recording location while a recording is actively being written.

⚠️ Internal Storage Requires Extra Caution

Streaming devices typically have limited internal storage.

That storage is already shared by the operating system, installed applications, cache files, temporary files, app updates, and KWTV/TIVIMATE.

Allowing recording files to consume nearly all available storage can impact the entire streaming device — not just KWTV/TIVIMATE.

You may experience slower navigation, application crashes, failed app updates, failed recordings, playback instability, or an unusually sluggish device.

๐Ÿšซ DO NOT allow recordings to completely fill the storage on your device.

If you plan to frequently record movies, sporting events, or long programs, compatible external or network storage is strongly recommended.

๐Ÿ”ด What Can KWTV/TIVIMATE Record?

  • ๐Ÿ”ด Record a Live TV channel that you are currently watching.
  • ๐Ÿ“… Schedule an upcoming program directly from the TV Guide / EPG.
  • ⏰ Create a Custom Recording using a specific date, start time, and duration.
  • ๐Ÿ“บ Continue watching another channel while recording — if your subscription allows enough simultaneous connections.
  • ๐ŸŽฅ Record more than one stream when sufficient connections, storage, network bandwidth, and device resources are available.
  • ๐Ÿ’พ Save recordings to compatible internal, USB, or network storage.
1

Set Up Your Recording Storage

Before making recordings, confirm where KWTV/TIVIMATE will save them.

Streaming devices often have limited internal storage, so long recordings can consume the available space very quickly.

To Check Your Recording Folder:

  1. Open KWTV/TIVIMATE.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Locate the Recording / Recordings Folder settings.
  4. Select the storage location you want to use.
  5. Confirm the selected location has adequate available storage.
โ„น️ Note: Exact menu wording may differ slightly depending on your version of KWTV/TIVIMATE and the streaming device being used.

๐Ÿšจ INTERNAL STORAGE WARNING

Recording directly to your streaming device's internal storage can affect the performance of the entire device.

Most Fire TV, Android TV, and Google TV streaming devices have relatively limited usable storage.

The operating system, installed apps, app updates, cache files, thumbnails, temporary files, and KWTV/TIVIMATE all share that same storage space.

What Happens When Storage Gets Too Low?

  • ⚠️ KWTV/TIVIMATE may freeze or unexpectedly close.
  • ⚠️ Recordings may suddenly stop.
  • ⚠️ Recordings may fail to save correctly.
  • ⚠️ The streaming device may become noticeably slower.
  • ⚠️ Other installed applications may begin crashing.
  • ⚠️ App updates may fail because there is not enough working space.
  • ⚠️ Menus and navigation may become sluggish.
  • ⚠️ Temporary and cache files may not be created correctly.
  • ⚠️ Playback may become unstable.
  • ⚠️ In extreme low-storage situations, files or applications may need to be removed before normal device performance returns.
๐Ÿ’พ KEEP FREE SPACE AVAILABLE

Never plan a recording based only on the total storage capacity of the device.

Always leave sufficient unused storage available for the operating system, installed applications, cache, and normal device operation.

๐Ÿ“Š How Much Storage Does Recording Use?

There is no fixed recording size.

KWTV/TIVIMATE saves the Live TV stream as it is delivered, so the size depends largely on the bitrate and quality of the channel.

Stream Bitrate Approximate Storage Per Hour
3 Mbps ~1.4 GB
5 Mbps ~2.3 GB
8 Mbps ~3.6 GB
10 Mbps ~4.5 GB
15 Mbps ~6.8 GB

๐Ÿˆ Example

A three-hour sporting event could potentially consume 10 GB or more depending on stream quality.

๐Ÿ”Œ External Storage

Customers who plan to record frequently should strongly consider compatible external storage.

Possible storage options may include:

  • USB Flash Drive
  • External SSD
  • External Hard Drive
  • Network / SMB Storage

Some streaming devices may require an OTG adapter or powered USB hub to connect external storage.

⚠️ FAT32 & the 4 GB File Limit

FAT32 formatted drives cannot store an individual file larger than approximately 4 GB.

This means a storage device could have 128 GB of free space, but a long recording may still fail once that individual recording file reaches the FAT32 file-size limit.

This is especially important when recording:

  • Long movies
  • Sporting events
  • Multi-hour programming
  • Special events
2

Record a Program You're Currently Watching

  1. Open the desired Live TV Channel.
  2. Press OK / Select on your remote to display the player controls.
  3. Locate the Record option.
  4. Select Record.
  5. KWTV/TIVIMATE will begin recording the current stream.
  6. A recording indicator should appear showing that recording is active.
โ„น️ Recording normally begins from the moment you press Record.

It does not automatically recover the portion of the program that aired before you started recording.

⏹️ Stopping a Recording

  1. Open the player controls.
  2. Locate the active Recording option.
  3. Select Stop Recording.
  4. Allow KWTV/TIVIMATE time to finalize the recording file.

  4. Highlight the program.
  5. Open the program options.
  6. Select Record.
  7. Confirm the scheduled recording.

KWTV/TIVIMATE will add the program to your scheduled recordings.

4

Create a Custom Recording

Custom Recording is especially useful when:

  • EPG information is missing.
  • The guide information is inaccurate.
  • A sporting event may run longer than scheduled.
  • You only want to record a certain time period.
  • You want additional recording time before or after a program.

To Create One:

  1. Open the TV Guide.
  2. Highlight the desired channel.
  3. Press and hold OK / Select.
  4. Open Custom Recording.
  5. Select New Recording.
  6. Set the date, start time, duration, and recording name.
  7. Select Schedule Recording.

๐Ÿˆ Sports Recording Tip

Never assume a sporting event will end exactly when the TV Guide says it will.

Games can run long because of:

  • Overtime
  • Weather delays
  • Injuries
  • Reviews
  • Commercial breaks
  • Postgame coverage

For sporting events, consider using a Custom Recording and adding additional time after the scheduled ending.

5

Find & Watch Your Recordings

  1. Open KWTV/TIVIMATE.
  2. Open the Recordings section.
  3. Select the recording you want to watch.
  4. Press Play.

You can also manage and delete older recordings from this area.

๐Ÿ—‘️ Regularly delete recordings you no longer need to help prevent your storage device from filling up.

๐Ÿšจ VERY IMPORTANT — IPTV Connection Limits

๐Ÿšจ Recording can affect BOTH your device performance and your available IPTV connections at the same time.

Every active recording should be treated as another television actively streaming a channel.

If your subscription does not include enough simultaneous connections, starting a recording while watching another channel can interrupt playback or cause the recording itself to fail.

A Recording Is Still an Active Live Connection

When KWTV/TIVIMATE records a channel, it maintains an active connection to that Live TV stream.

That recording can count toward the number of simultaneous connections allowed by your subscription.

Example: 1 Connection Account

Connection #1 → Recording ESPN
Connection #2 → Watching CNN

Account Allowance → 1 Connection

In this example, you may now be attempting to use two simultaneous connections even though the subscription only allows one.

Possible results can include:

  • Playback stopping
  • Buffering
  • Recording stopping
  • Black screen
  • Connection errors
  • The previous stream disconnecting

๐Ÿ“บ Example: 2 Connection Account

Connection #1 → Recording Channel A
Connection #2 → Watching Channel B

This configuration would generally stay within a two-connection allowance.

However:

Recording Channel A
+ Recording Channel B
+ Watching Channel C

= Potentially 3 Connections

⚠️ Multiscreen Also Uses Connections

Screen #1 → 1 Connection
Screen #2 → 1 Connection
Active Recording → 1 Connection

Total → 3 Simultaneous Streams

Always remain within the connection allowance associated with your subscription.

๐Ÿšซ Do Not Intentionally Exceed Your Connection Limit

Repeatedly exceeding the number of streams allowed by your subscription can cause more than ordinary buffering.

Possible consequences may include:

  • Streams disconnecting
  • Temporary account restrictions
  • Security or connection-limit triggers
  • Service instability
  • Possible account suspension depending on provider policy

KWTV/TIVIMATE does not increase the number of connections included with your subscription.

๐ŸŒ Internet Bandwidth Matters

Recording does not eliminate the need for a stable Internet connection.

KWTV/TIVIMATE is receiving and saving the Live TV stream in real time.

If one HD stream uses approximately 8 Mbps, then:

Recording 1 Channel → ~8 Mbps
Watching Another Channel → ~8 Mbps

Approximate Combined Usage → ~16 Mbps+

Additional recordings or Multiscreen sessions can increase the required bandwidth even further.

Other household activity can also affect recording reliability:

  • Gaming
  • Video calls
  • Cloud backups
  • Large downloads
  • Security cameras
  • Other televisions streaming
  • Wi-Fi congestion

๐Ÿ“ถ Recordings Can Contain Buffering

A KWTV/TIVIMATE recording is not downloaded afterward from a perfect master copy.

It records the Live TV stream as your device receives it.

If the stream:

  • Buffers
  • Freezes
  • Disconnects
  • Changes resolution
  • Experiences network packet loss
  • Temporarily goes offline

the saved recording may contain the same problem or may stop completely.

๐Ÿ“ก Wi-Fi vs. Ethernet

For customers who record frequently, a wired Ethernet connection is preferable whenever practical.

Wi-Fi recording may be affected by:

  • Weak wireless signal
  • Distance from the router
  • Wireless interference
  • Crowded Wi-Fi channels
  • Mesh-node switching
  • Heavy household wireless traffic

๐Ÿ’ค Device Power & Sleep Settings

Scheduled recording requires the streaming device to remain powered and capable of running KWTV/TIVIMATE.

Avoid:

  • Unplugging the streaming device
  • Force-closing KWTV/TIVIMATE
  • Disconnecting the recording drive
  • Restarting the device during a scheduled recording
  • Aggressive power-saving or sleep settings
โ„น️ The television display itself does not necessarily need to remain on, but the streaming device must remain powered and operational.

๐Ÿ—“️ EPG Accuracy Matters

When you schedule from the TV Guide, KWTV/TIVIMATE relies on the times provided by the EPG.

Guide Says → 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Actual Program → 8:03 PM – 9:04 PM

If this happens, part of the beginning or ending could be missed.

Adding extra recording time is especially recommended for:

  • Live Sports
  • Award Shows
  • Breaking News Events
  • Live Specials
  • Season Finales

๐ŸŒ Network Storage / SMB

Advanced users may configure compatible network storage for recordings.

This may include:

  • NAS devices
  • Desktop computers
  • Home servers
  • Compatible router storage
  • Other supported network storage locations

This can be useful in homes with multiple streaming devices because recordings may be stored in one centralized location.

⚠️ Network Storage Adds Another Dependency

Your recording now depends on:

Internet
↓
Streaming Device
↓
Home Network
↓
Storage Device

If any part of this path becomes unavailable, the recording may be interrupted.

๐Ÿ›‘ Recording Is Not Guaranteed

KWTV/TIVIMATE recording should be considered a convenience feature rather than a guaranteed cloud-DVR service.

Successful recording depends on:

  • ✅ IPTV source remaining online
  • ✅ Stable Internet
  • ✅ Streaming device remaining powered
  • ✅ KWTV/TIVIMATE remaining operational
  • ✅ Storage remaining connected
  • ✅ Adequate free storage
  • ✅ Accurate EPG timing
  • ✅ Staying within your connection allowance
  • ✅ Stable home-network connectivity

✅ Best Practices

  • ๐Ÿ’พ Use external storage for frequent recording.
  • ๐Ÿงน Keep plenty of free storage available.
  • ๐Ÿ“บ Never exceed your IPTV connection allowance.
  • ๐ŸŒ Use Ethernet whenever practical.
  • ⏰ Add additional recording time for live sporting events.
  • ๐Ÿ“… Verify EPG information before scheduling important recordings.
  • ๐Ÿ”Œ Never disconnect storage during an active recording.
  • ๐Ÿ’ค Keep your streaming device powered.
  • ๐Ÿ—‘️ Delete old recordings regularly.
  • ๐Ÿงช Test a short recording before relying on it for an important event.

๐Ÿ†˜ Recording Troubleshooting

Recording Immediately Stops

Check:

  • Available storage
  • Recording folder permissions
  • IPTV connection limits
  • Channel stability

Recording Is Only a Few Minutes Long

Possible causes:

  • Stream disconnected
  • Internet interruption
  • Storage problem
  • FAT32 file-size limitation
  • Device sleep or background restrictions
  • Connection limit exceeded

Recording Exists but Will Not Play

The Live TV stream may have been interrupted or the recording file may not have finalized properly.

Try creating a short test recording from another channel.

Recording Option Is Missing

Verify that:

  • Your version of KWTV/TIVIMATE supports recording.
  • The application is properly activated where required.
  • KWTV/TIVIMATE has permission to access the selected storage location.

Recording Starts or Ends at the Wrong Time

This is commonly related to EPG timing.

Verify your guide information and consider adding additional recording time before or after important programs.

BEFORE YOU PRESS RECORD

⚠️ Make Sure Your Device Is Ready

Recording is optional and should only be used when your device, storage, network, and subscription can support the additional workload.

  • ✅ Confirm you have enough free storage.
  • ✅ Confirm the recording location is connected and working.
  • ✅ Confirm your IPTV subscription has enough available connections.
  • ✅ Avoid recording to nearly-full internal storage.
  • ✅ Avoid unplugging or restarting the device during recording.
  • ✅ Use external storage for frequent or long recordings whenever practical.
  • ✅ Test a short recording before relying on it for an important program.
๐Ÿšจ BOTTOM LINE:

The Recording feature can place substantially more demand on your streaming device than normal Live TV viewing.

Poor storage management, insufficient connections, unstable Internet, insufficient device resources, or disconnecting storage while recording can negatively affect both the recording and the overall device experience.

⭐ Recommended Recording Setup

KWTV/TIVIMATE recording works best with:

Adequate External Storage  +  Stable Internet  +  Stable Live TV Source  +  Proper Connection Allowance

๐Ÿšจ Remember This Above Everything Else

Every active recording should be considered an active IPTV stream.

Before recording one channel while watching another — or before recording multiple channels at the same time — make sure your subscription includes enough simultaneous connections and that your device has enough free storage to safely handle the recording.
