Buffering?Start Here.
Buffering is usually caused by a temporary device, network, VPN, or connection-limit issue. Complete these steps in order, testing KWTV after each one.
Fully Reboot Your Streaming Device
Pressing the power button usually puts the device to sleep—it does not perform a complete restart.
Amazon Fire TV
- Open Settings.
- Select My Fire TV. On some Fire TV televisions, select Device & Software.
- Select Restart.
- Select Restart again to confirm.
If the device is frozen, unplug its power cable for 60 seconds, reconnect it, and allow it to finish loading.
Google TV / ONN Streaming Device
- Open Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Restart.
- Select Restart again to confirm.
If the device is frozen, unplug its power cable for 60 seconds before reconnecting it.
Properly Reboot Your Wi-Fi Equipment
Restarting your modem and router can clear connection problems that a speed test may not reveal.
- Unplug the power from both your modem and Wi-Fi router. If you have one combined gateway, unplug that single device.
- Leave the equipment unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the modem first.
- Wait until its internet/online light becomes stable—usually two to five minutes.
- Reconnect the Wi-Fi router.
- Allow another two to three minutes for Wi-Fi to return.
- Restart your streaming device and test KWTV again.
Force Stop KWTV and Clear Its Cache
Force stopping the app ends any stuck background processes. Clearing the cache removes temporary files without deleting your KWTV login information.
Amazon Fire TV
Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → KWTV- Select Force Stop.
- Select Clear Cache.
- Reopen KWTV.
Google TV / ONN Device
Settings → Apps → See All Apps → KWTV- Select Force Stop.
- Select Clear Cache.
- Reopen KWTV.
Temporarily Turn Off Your VPN (If you have one)
Some VPN servers can become crowded, slow, or incompatible with a particular video connection.
- Disconnect your VPN completely.
- Force stop and reopen the KWTV app.
- Test the same channel again.
If turning off the VPN fixes the buffering, you can:
- Leave the VPN disconnected while watching KWTV.
- Connect to a different or geographically closer VPN server.
- Try a different connection protocol inside the VPN app.
- Use Split Tunneling to exclude KWTV from the VPN.
Split-Tunnel the KWTV App
The wording varies by VPN provider, but the general steps are:
- Open your VPN app.
- Open its Settings.
- Find Split Tunneling, Bypass VPN, Excluded Apps, or App Routing.
- Select the KWTV app.
- Set KWTV to bypass or not use the VPN.
- Save the setting and reconnect the VPN.
Improve the Device’s Connection
For the most stable streaming experience:
- Use a wired Ethernet connection whenever possible.
- Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi when the device is close to the router.
- Try 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi when the device is farther away or separated by several walls.
- Move the router away from cabinets, metal objects, and other electronics.
- Avoid placing the streaming device directly behind the television if possible.
- Pause large downloads, game updates, cloud backups, or multiple high-quality streams.
- Make sure your streaming device has available storage space.
- Install any available device and KWTV app updates.
Check the Issue While It Is Happening
Only One Channel Is Buffering
- Change to another channel for approximately 30 seconds.
- Return to the original channel.
- Confirm whether other channels are playing normally.
- If it continues, contact us on Discord while it is happening and provide the exact channel name.
Every Channel Is Buffering
- Confirm that you are not exceeding your connection limit.
- Restart the device and home network.
- Test with the VPN completely disconnected.
- Force Stop KWTV and Clear Cache using Step 3.
- Reopen KWTV and test again.
Only One Device Is Buffering
The issue is likely isolated to that device, its Wi-Fi connection, available storage, cached files, or VPN configuration.
Force Stop KWTV, Clear Cache, and restart that device before testing again.
Multiple Devices Are Buffering
The home internet connection, router, VPN, or number of active KWTV connections is the more likely cause.
Avoid Using Too Many Connections
Your KWTV plan includes a specific number of simultaneous connections or screens. Using KWTV on more devices at the same time than your plan allows can cause:
- Buffering
- Playback interruptions
- Channels stopping unexpectedly
- Connection or authorization errors
The KWTV app may remain active in the background even after you leave it. When you finish watching on a device, fully exit or Force Stop the KWTV app—especially before opening KWTV on another television or device.
If your household regularly needs KWTV on additional screens at the same time, contact us through Discord to ask about pricing to increase your connection limit.
